Kapow Comic Con Part II

For most of the day after the 2000AD panel, I was in queues for signings, from Steve Dillion, Jonathan Ross, Paul Cornell and David Lloyd. Have to say David Lloyd was very pleasant and did a sketch for the wife, of a front image of V. Very cool.

He also pointed me in the direction of a book he did called Kickback. This went straight into my Amazon wishlist (thanks smartphone) and I have since ordered it for my wife's birthday. As she is a big David Lloyd fan, so will be chuffed to get this for her birthday (i hope).

Kapow Comic Con: Part I

Well as promised here is part I of the run through of the Kapow weekend. It started early as needed to get a train into London so out of the house by about 7.
Nice easy journey, though the cab driver we had wasn't a morning person. When we got to the venue, there was already a queue.

Kapow - quick update

Very quick update on Kapow Comic Con. Did the 2 days and now back home. All I say at this time is that it was a great time and now I'm knackered after 2 long days. Time to recharge batteries and provide a more fuller update later on when my brain is back in gear.

Kapow

Well, its the Wednesday before Kapow this weekend. I had already bought mine and the wife's tickets for Saturday ages ago. I didn't buy the Sunday tickets as I thought 1 day would be enough and public transport on Sundays sucks. No offence to the transport workers who have to work Sundays, its just the frequency of the trains that is the problem.
Then I saw the full program and damn, Mark Millar is signing on Sunday. I so need to get his autograph, as it is because of Mr Millar that I got back into comics after about a 20 year break. It started a few years ago when I saw a copy of the Ultimates in Waterstones.
Having time to kill, I picked it up and read most of it. All I can say is I was blown away, with how the normal superhero stories that I grew up with, paled in comparison to what I had read years previously. From that point on, I would find myself flipping through the graphic novel section of any bookstore I ended up in.
Then Kick Ass hit the screens and I knew I had to read the original source material. I wasn't disappointed.
The one good thing about coming back to comics is that Mr Millar has made me more selective of the material I buy now.
I'm now back to going into proper comic book stores, listening to the mad conversations that take place and thoroughly enjoying myself. Even my wife is now buying comics as well.

Comic Day

It's the end of another Saturday at the comic store. Got my latest set from the comic store in Southend, Ace Comics.
Got some more storage as well, which meant the afternoon was spent sorting out the comic collection. Which only took a couple of hours but was sadly satisfying. Sad I know.
Have found that I'm so behind what comic series are produced now. Going to take some time and research to catch up. Could be time to renew my online Marvel subscription. Well back to reading.
